Is there anything illegal, if I use the Google Map component without a gateway file?
Actually there is no Google term / limitation, making the file usage mandatory. There exist some limitations for usage behind firewall or non-public networks, however; the component does not bring any firewall or internal network limitations, and has nothing to do with them. So there is no reason not to use this feature, which increases performance and simplifies management.
Besides, the component supports working on both ways (with or without file), application developers can switch to the way they prefer.
